I hope you all had a nice peaceful safe Christmas day, whatever you chose to do. Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and Marilyn.
Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:30 to 12:50 pm. She saw three seals on island today.
At LPB were two seals near each other. USA An unknown subadult size, lighter belly and two tags. She could not determine its sex viewing conditions were difficult. Second critter was an unknown adult size, gray male belly and two tags (UAM).
Out on the rocks flats of RRB was an unknown adult size, with newer coat. UA. Its belly was visible
but she was unable to determine its sex or tags.Team Billand spent from 8 am to noon at the bay with five seals. Lei Ola RH48 was spending her xmas pigging out. She didn't even stop to argue with Nalu, then again he spent his time picking on Aukai. Aukai RL12 was ID'd by her shoulder scar, from a wound when she was 9 months old on Rabbit Island. She was shot with a Hawaiian sling and thank goodness DB was there to see her injury. RN44 was also making his way around the bay today. Nalu R3CX was busy foraging and pestering Aukai. Little RL20 Kalua is a trooper, goes everywhere chasing fish and keeping up with the big boys. Once in awhile he went over and bugged Lei Ola.
Team Billand arrived at another west side location about 3 pm and found RL70 Leina on high mid rocks, sound a sleep. A couple times she was upside down, they were able to see her familiar white nails. Lefty RG28 was inland on high mid rocks sleeping alone. All his markers and cookie scars were showing.
On their way home Team Billand spotted a seal from afar, so they went to investigate. There were some signs out and lifeguards were on duty. There was Kawika R407 alone resting. There were footprints around him but he was fine.
