It's Saturday so Marilyn was out and about today. I know she did the Ka'ena Point trek with Lesley, but when she got back to the east side she got a call from a friend that there were two seals at the flats. Marilyn was able to make her way down late afternoon which made the lighting a bit of a challenge. Sure enough when she arrived there were two seals, one being Kolohe RW22 who was ID'd by his NB behind his RFF, and his recent applied N22 bleach. Good to see he has left Rabbit Island and doing what mature males do, chasing the chicks.
The second seal RK96 Kaiwi who was IF'd by her female belly, NB on her foreheard and the one inside her back flipper, and K96 tag.
Team Billand stopped by plains but there were no seals there this morning, just a beautiful sunrise over Honolulu. And since it was Saturday they went to pick up their junior sealette Olivia.
Once Team Billand was complete they headed over to a westside beach and hit the jackpot with four seals.
RN14 Kalani was to the left on high rocks alone. RIP RR70 was in the exact same spot he's been in for the last couple of days, to right lower rocks.
RW02 PvKauai and RH32 Kaale were together way inland to the right.
From here Team Billand stopped at another westside beach and found a seal well hidden on a small patch of sand and rocks. Junior Sealette Olivia spotted her first and with Grandmas' help they were able to ID Rl42. She was snoozing, looking healthy and plump. They did not stay long in that they didn't want to attract any attention to this nice safe spot.
Kaiwi and Kolohe
who could this be? LOL N22 Kolohe ( thank you NOAA for the bleach)
RIP
Kalani RN14
