12/13/2018 Monk Seal Dailies: (part 1)

Todays dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and Lesley. Lesley's Ka'ena update is apart two of the dailies:

Team Billand got to Paradise Cove before 6 am and find a "blob" in the dark. There he was Benny RE74, so Team Billand made a zone around him. They called the hotline and waited until after 8 when a volunteer arrived. Benny is fine, a little dirty chin and relieved himself quite a bit. Guess it's part of his morning routine. He was resting peacefully and hardly moved. Team Billand met some respectful folks and talked story about Benny Boy.

After leaving Benny they stopped off at Plains and found Pohaku RO28 already with a zone set up by her loyal surfers. She was right in front of one of the towers enjoying the sun and very very windy conditions. They called the hotline to report. They had another wonderful encounter with a visitor from Ohio. They spent quite a bit of time talking story.

Team Billand headed over to the usual stops and they spotted three whales off of Kahe Point.
A little further west they caught up with RN14 Kalani and RR70 RIP. The boys once again were together on lower rocks. Kalani on the left side and RIP at his usual spot snoozing and looking dry,
They stayed for a while hoping there would be some additional critters, but no one else showed up. Both animals were snoozing the day away even when they returned on their afternoon check.
I guess it was so windy out there today, Barb had a hard time holding the camera still and keep her hat on, but the boys didn't seem to mind at all.
