Team Billand was out early checking to see if the boyz were still having a party on the westside. But after waiting for some time no seal arrived. They did spot a seal foraging off shore but it never hauled up just kept going back and forth.
Team Billand had to leave the site for a bit but did return around 9 am. Sure enough there was a seal coming in it was RW02 PvKauai. Melody arrived shortly after and Team Billand filled her in on who was hauled out. Then a volunteer arrived, but there were no signs, or zone put up.
Team Billand left the site and returned in the afternoon. At this time there was a man standing over RW02. Team Billand wasn't sure who he was or what his intentions were. He finally left and was on his way to Nanakuli. Volunteer Melina arrived and Team Billand filled her in on what had happened.
Team Billand second seal find was around 11 am when they spotted a seal in the huge waves off a westside beach. Conditions were windy and was interfering with their ability to ID, stand up, and keep their hats on. Then he came in slowly RIP RR70 and hauled out to lower rocks,
When they returned for a recheck he was still there in the salt spray, and strong winds.
At Team Billands third stop at a westside beach they found two seals and of course the bosom buddies RN14 Kalani and RH32 Ka'ale were at it again. They were
biting, smashing each other under the shallows, some slaps, some hugs, take a break and start all over again. Seems these two buddies are quite entertaining.
Team T&D (Tammy and Dave) did some north shore checking and they only find one critter. At Kahuku they found RK80. This little female is looking quite cute and healthy.
Team T&D also enjoyed watching some of the Albatross out at Campbells Wildlife Refuge.
