9/3/2015 DB's Dailies: Kea & U/U@RI, Pohaku@Nanakuli, Luana@Hidden Bch, RL42,Ka'ena&RW02@KP, U/F @Sunset Bch, Rocky@Outrigger Canoe Club

From what I’ve heard and seen of the day, it was pretty much miserable everywhere. Lightning, thunder & dumping rain in all quadrants. Still there were a hearty few who were out there.

 Ast 0618 the Billands called with the report of Pohaku (RO28) at Depot’s , Nanakuli.

 Lesley called at 0721 on her way to Ka’ena Point to advise that she had found Luana (RN58) at Hidden Beach. At Ka’ena Point she found RL42 on the back beach at 0835. NOAA personnel were on the way, but heavy weather protocols required that they abort the mission. They will try again tomorrow. On her way out Lesley also found Ka’ena (RO40) & RW02 having words.

 At 0909 a DanaTxt reported that Joy Silver had found an U/U at Sunset Beach. Her shots, as well as Thomas Sperandeo’s shots, didn’t provide enough information to confirm an ID.

 There were actually 2 highlights of the day today. Firstly, Ocean Safety called at 1021 reporting an animal just hauling out to the ewa side of the Wall in Waikiki. Thankfully, they called again at 1035 advising that the animal had departed, however they had confirmed the “N11" bleach. That, of course , would be the one and only Rocky (RH58). She was confirmed in Ewa Beach the other day, so it was just a matter of time until she got back to her usual galumphing grounds. There were no further calls on her, but chances are great that she is probably somewhere in the Diamond Head/Waikiki area, or maybe on the way out to see me tomorrow. Only Rocky Knows !!

 At 0700, with a return at 0827, I did my Rabbit Island checks and found what would remain an U/U tucked in against the log, 40 ft left of 1BS, and the 2nd highlight of the day, Kea (RN46)!!! In the Morning Glory at 3BS. This adventure to Only Kea Knows where, has lasted 18 days, but today he is home !! His signature natural bleach on his right fore flipper, was a sight for sore eyes !!

The U/U was in all probability Aukai, but gave me nothing to go on except a white belly.

 There was no Cass today.

 A DanaTxt at 1659 advised that “someone with flippers has just hauled out to Outrigger Canoe Club”. Colleen is said to be handling. At 1656 Colleen confirmed Rocky (RH58) at OCC. Welcome Home Colleen !!
