I got back for round 2 at Makai Pier at 0850. On a pan at 0921 I would find Kea (RN46) just moving out of the lush Morning Glory at 3BS. This is the second day that I’ve had the little dude come out of the double over head greenery. The little guy is totally hidden in there.
At 0959 what would prove to be Kaiwi (RK96) hauled out to 3BS. Kea would galumph over to join her.
On a routine pan at 1208 I found that there was now a gang of 5 animals at 3BS. The 3 swimmers had hauled out to join Kaiwi & Kea. It was chaos for a while there. What we had here was a young female (Kaiwi) and 4 males, all intent on gaining the best access to her. Surprisingly, Kea managed to get the best positioning for most of the time. Kekoa hung back and really didn’t participate while the rest of the dudes where going nuts, but when they all tuckered out, he came around the back way and got the #1 location. It became a moot point about the time that he arrived because the UM, Kea & Kainoa all entered the water at 1238, for a swim/play session, leaving Kekoa & Kaiwi the only beached animals.
I'm going to assume there was no other sighting since nothing was mentioned in today's dailies.... a rare slow seal day.
Kekoa Kainoa Kea Kaiwi and U/M (say that 5 times fast)
