1-15-11 DB Dailies

At 0630 I found Kermit waiting for me at Sandy Beach. He had departed last night, however fishermen posse people confirmed that he had hauled out again at 0430, next to there fishing camp site. I got him cordoned off and he has remained all day. His D#12 molt is 85%. I picked up the rope at 1900. Kermit remains.

At 0939, from Makai Pier I found Makana just hauling out to Rocky Right Beach on Rabbit Island. He would remain all day.

At 0939 I became aware of a partially visible animal in Seal Rock Inlet. At 1148 I became aware that there were actually 2 animals there. They were impossible to ID from Makai Pier, so at 1430 I relocated to the
Makapuu Overview and determined that they were Kolohe and RIP.
At 1305 Duke hauled out to the right of 1BS on RI, and remained the rest of the day.
Dera called at 1005 to report an animal at the Duke statue in Waikiki. It was later determined that the location was nearer the Kuhio statue, a bit further east. Colleen would confirm the Rocky ID at 1130. She has remained the rest of the day. Lesley called at 1225 to say that police had responded because somebody was throwing rocks at Rocky. Hopefully Lesley will be able to elaborate on that story on da' blog. Rocky was out on the groin at that location. Leave it to her to make life as difficult as possible. Actually, Rocky and Buster had hauled out to the beach to the east of that groin back when they had their little fling back on 6-5-10. This is also the same location that Benny hauled out back on 11-14-09 and again on 12-26-09. I heard Becky, Colleen, Karen and Dana's names in conjunction with the haul out, but if there are others I'm not aware of, Rocky whispered that she wanted to say Tanx Eh! to all who participated. Dana called at 1957 to advise that Rocky had departed. More cops were involved tonight. Hopefully, Dana will elaborate on da' blog.

Team Billand called at 1320 to report Benny on the east side of the east end perimeter fence at White Plains. The beach was closed for clean up today. Personnel were picking up all sorts of crap , including medical waste , in Benny's location.

Marilyn did the Ka'ena Point trek today. I was hopeful that all those missing SW quadrant animals would be there , but alas there was nobody. She did see lots of debris in and around the pools that all the KP gang uses.

Charles Littnan's Magical Monk Seal Tour was on the road today. Charles was leading a gaggle of good people here for meetings. They stopped to spend quality time with Kermit at Sandy Beach, and then spent time with me at Makai Pier, checking out Rabbit Island critters.
