In case one is wondering where the debri shots and syringe was found....this is a really nice beach in Maili known as Maipalaoa Beach. Here we found 11 more medical waste items. One of which a needle was still attached. The debri here is incredibly horrible. When the tide is high, we find numerous dead animals, propane tanks, shoes, slippers, bottles of all kinds, toys, balls, and now, lately, needles, syringes, medical waste. Just over whelming to see. No one does anything about it either. We brought it to the media...nothing heard. And YES, monk seals show up here....its a big worry.
The StarAdvertiser (1/19/11) published a high surf warning that roads and areas in the flood plain on the leeward side could be flooded. That surely would clean the beaches of all the debris and contamination? Then it would be covering the roads, in people's yards, homes, and businesses. City and County Administrators might opt to take action then to avoid lawsuits. Used medical devices, sanitized or not, are horrible on the beach but really unacceptable in your living room or restaurant.
