Team R&B got word from their friend that there were no seals seen and was leaving. But eagle eyes Barb spotted a small seal hiding, and called out to her friend. Hiding was RU12 and she is looking very green. They believe she'll probably molt soon. When they did a check later in the day she was still there.
Next they stopped at kahe pavilion and found the lovely Miss Aukai RL12. She was somewhat alert with all the divers and swimmers going out. The lifeguards put out signs, but some people just don't pay attention. There were some that were respectful of the signs and Aukai.
After watching Aukai they went to watch the dolphins. There were a lot of them out today. They mostly kept their distance from the snorkelers who were trying to get close to them. Shame!
Team R&B went to check other spots but did not find anymore seals. But..... they did find the escaped goats pigging out on the grass.
Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:02 to 2:08 pm and there were seven seals seen during that time.
Out on LPB near the LPB channel there was initially one small seal which Marilyn now thinks was a Juvenile, although she initially thought it was a recent weaner. Then one recent weaner did show up. At 1:30 pm two more recent weaners hauled out of the LPB surge channel. So there were four small seals, three recent weaner and a Unknown Juvenile. They ultimately moved somewhat apart from each other and went into snooze mode.
A short distance Lanikai side from the 3BS wer MO10 and PO10. They initially were in the nearshore water and not until much later they hauled out to nurse down from the 3BS. Marilyn did see asoftball size natural bleach on the lower rear left side of MO10. PO10 had an extended nursing session.
A Sub-adult Female seal was nearshore between the 3BS and the SRI channel. Marilyn only saw this seal briefly. It was gone by 12:pm and not seen again. Marilyn thinks this is the same SF that was near the SRI channel on Wednesday.
