Team R&B arrived at paradise cove and there were four seals on site and then one left. They were not able to get a photo or ID since they were busy trying to get folks to back away. Today was one of those days where no one listened.
The three seals that remained kept fighting/playing in the lagoon. They attempted to haul out but people were in the way. They got some signs and then people began to move back. They educated folks as to why they should stay back. Of course there were those that asked the ridiculous questions like why can't we snorkel? When are the seals going to leave, we don't like them, they always on our beach.
Team R&B called the hotline several times. And on top of that trying to ID the seals.
One seal was RL08 who tried to haul out, looked around at the people and turned away and went up the channel. He eventually returned.
A volunteer did finally arrive. The other seals were Aukai RL12 and an unknown.
Team R&B were both exhausted and frustrated with the tourist so they headed out.
Next stop was at secrets where they waited for the seals. They could several way out foraging and fighting. Finally two seals started making their way in. They ID'd RL12 Aukai and RK72 Kekoa Alii. There was another seal that came in and then left again no ID.
Kekoa and Aukai fought like crazy, they kept all the tourist back once again. They called the hotline a couple times. They educated the folks and watch as the seals hauled out on the rocks. Finally the two of them settled in.
There were still three more seals way out, two kept going but one came in fast. The seal went right for Aukai, and he RG32 and Kekoa got arguing. Kekoa moved down a bit and RG32 took to Aukai's side. RG32 barked at Kekoa, who didn't challenge him and stayed by Aukai.
They returned to the cove to see if any of the seals were there, and they were not. BUT they did see a honu on shore resting on the rocks. It didn't take long when a tourist went up to the honu. Team R&B called the hotline.
They made a quick stop over to kahe, and saw there were two seals on the rocks. One was RL08, but they couldn't get an ID on the other. It was reported as an unknown adult.
Checking over at tracks they once again found R413 Makamae. She was on shore same as yesterday.
On their last stop ended the day on a good note. They found RH76 Kala with RP30 Puka on the rocks. There were no people around and both seals were sound asleep.
