Feb 13, 2023 Monday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Melody, Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Melody went to visit Momma Kaimana RJ58 and little PO1 today. They had just hauled out from a short swim in the shallows. PO1 has mastered the art of nursing, it nursed four time during Melody's observation.
Mom and pup didn't move around much, Momma Kaimana was resting her head between some rocks. They were hit with some surf a couple of times and the pup holding its own. Lots of lessons for the little one to learn.
On Melody's walk out she spotted a small seal foraging along the coastline. It did try to haul out at the pupping site, but when it saw big momma it left.

Team R&B started their day watching whales, their other great love in life.

Next they got a frantic call of four seals at the cove. They hurried over and found RH32 Kaale all the way to the right. He was alone and resting.
To the Luau side of the cove was RK72 Kekoa Alii, RG28 Lefty and RL08.  The security folks did their best to keep folks away from the seals. Over and over Team R&B tried, they had to give up.
Its' always heartbreaking and frustrating to see the scene.  They called the hotline and waited as long as they could. They could not find the signs that are usually kept at the site.  Unfortunately Team R&B had to leave for an appointment.

After their appointment they went to check on a seal they had seen
earlier but couldn't stop. Thankfully the seal was still there, it was an adult female. They thought she looked different, there was no scar on chest like R413 and she had lots of cc scars, a big shark bite on left side of her head and no tags.  She finally flipped over and they saw the new cc wound still healing and they knew it was R604.
She looks young, and full of markers (scars) but still beautiful. Even the homeless guy commented that the seal looked different.  It certainly takes a community.

At another west side location they found Puka RP30. He was at the seal inlet alone.
Then they spotted a seal hidden in the rocks more inland. It was R3CU also alone resting comfortably. He thankfully shifted a bit for them to confirm his ID. Amazingly he was high up away from the ocean and he's a big seal.

Marilyn had attended a luncheon today and she spotted a seal on the beach. Later she went to check it out and she found RK96 Kaiwi. She was resting comfortably within a SRA and a volunteer on site keeping her safe.
