Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:37 to 12:15, cut short due to the passing showers.
Just as she set up the scope she spotted a group of three seals near the waterline in the middle of LPB. They were located right where the waves break so they were frequently obscured by the waves and spray.
Unknown Adult 1: adult size, light gray ventral, and unsure about tags
Subadult Female: subadult size, light female belly and not sure about tags.
Alone between 3BS and SRI was an Adult Male: adult size, medium gray male belly and unsure about tags.
They had an appointment this morning so they went to search for seals later in the day. Their first find was two seals spotted on shore at tracks. They noticed the seals when a woman in a red bikini walked got close to the seals for pictures.
One of the seals R604 wasn't happy, as she was barking at the woman. The other seal was RH32 Kaale, he moved closer to R604.
Team R&B called the hotline and gave them the information on the seals and what was going on. Thankfully the woman left with her boyfriend.
R604 and RH32 settled in and stayed on shore. Then more folks arrived, but this time Team R&B asked them to keep their distance. They left before knowing if a volunteer arrived.
At another west side location they found two male seals together. There was Kekoa Alii RK72 and Puka RP30 on high rocks. They were snoozing together in the blowing wind and drizzles.
The winds were so strong it was a challenge to stand still and keep your hat on.
There was an akule boat off shore raking in fish so close to the rocks.
Well today was the day to get some great photos of the whales. Today they were close in and playing, there was even a mother and calf.
On their last stop they found Kala RH76 on the rocks. She was so well hidden, they only took a couple of photos so they wouldn't bring attention to her.
To the other end, there was another seal. In the pond on his side was Nalu R3CX.
