Tammy started her morning on the north shore where she found RG40 Holokai. It looks like he might have spent the night there. Tammy also spotted another seal just off shore and then in the cove. By the size and color she thinks it is RL36 (and is willing to bet my foster puppies on it!) She better be darn sure it's RL36. She did spot it foraging out at the point but could not make a positive ID.
Team Billand was onsite with Mom and Pup before 6 am. When they arrived Pohaku and Nanea were on shore close to the waters edge. Nanea was being stubborn and not listen to Moms calls, Pohaku went from right to left and opening her mouth wide called to the pup.
Nanea was exploring and runs into a bit of trouble near twin rocks. The surf was pounding, waves consumed Nanea separating her from Pohaku. Mom went hunting for Nanea, and found her. They both went back to birth beach and had a nursing session. While nursing, waves came up to Mom and Pup so they left.
Then Team Billand spot RN14 coming back through the channel, he sees mom and pup and swims over to Nanea. Barbara describes him dive bombing the pup. Nanea comes up in shock, but is fine.
Well !!! Pohaku is not having that and she charges RN14 with a vengeance, RN14 Kalani leaves again.
Kalani RN14 came back a third time! Pohaku with pup exploring did not see him until she turned around the that was it. She charged RN14 and they fought it out. While fighting Pohaku is still keeping and eye on Nanea, and manages to send Kalani away for a third and final time.
This mom is a Tita - SHE IS: Pohaku!
After all the excitement Team Billand took a break just before 1 pm and returned at 2:30.
Lots of people were coming by to check them out, volunteers were there to educate, Melody was there doing her part and of course Team Billand making their contribution.
There was one more nursing session before Team Billand headed out at 5 pm. Another long day at the pupping site.
