4/21/2018 Monk Seal Dailies (part 2 ) Ka'ena Point Update

The weather was very pleasant today for our hike out to the point.

Just as we sat down to wait for a seal to show up, a head was doing the checking by on the ocean side off Main Beach. Marilyn & Diane followed him while I looked around to see if another seal was around. It made its way to the Runway and hauled out fast.

From far I saw the NB and IDed RO40 “Ka’ena” when I caught up with Marilyn & Diane they also confirmed his ID. He was the only seal we saw today.

Yesterday we spent many hours monitoring our girl RN58 “Luana”. Today we looked for her, but she was a no show. She’s looking nice and round, healthy and happy – vide photo of her face.
