Team Billand was out early morning at Paradise Cove and when they got there to their surprise they found Pohaku RO28 and right behind her was RN14 Kalani. It's been a while since she was around this side and she is looking very large. She wasn't happy to have RN14 around, she rolled, barked at him, leaped and slapped him. He must of thought this meant she liked him because he kept at her poking at her belly and sniffing at her.
Team Billand quickly got to work and set up a zone, but of course the seals started moving towards the entrance to they had to take the ropes and signs down just as quickly as they went up. Interestingly a small tourist bus arrived and Team Billand asked them to step back behind the signs because the seals were moving and for everyone's safety it was best to stay away. They called the Hotline to explain the situation with the two animals and a number of people.
Pohaku decided to galumph down the sand to the rocks, once again they moved the signs and ropes. Both animals went scurrying on the shore and then on the reef where they settled. Volunteer arrive at 8 am, Team Billand explained how aggressive and persistent N14 was and how he was reacting to the people by raising his body high (like a cobra) and staring wide eyed. Team Billand departed at 8:30 and at the point the two critters has moved all the way on the top of the rocks.
On their 4th check of a Leeward Beach they finally spotted a seal hauled out on the lower rock. They ID'd RW02 PvKauai snoring his afternoon away.
Checking in on the Westside they spotted RIP RR70 on the rocks alone, his tags were visible. They then decided to check the Ka'ena Point West side walk but came up empty
