The Billands had been searching all morning and it wasn't unitl 9:10 am when the stopped at a beach on the Leeward side they see a seal on shore. Then there were two and by the time Team Billand got down to the site there were three ! The seals were having a go at it, between themselves. A couple of guys went running down but Barbara was able to give them a quick monk seal 101 lesson. The hotline was called. A volunteer showed up and they put up signs (no ropes). Benny was being pursues by Ka'ale (butthead) and RN14 Kalani. But Ka'ale was more the aggressor chasing Benny. The trio put on a very entertaining show for everyone. (I have to laugh at the thought of little butthead chasing Benny off).
Also on the Leeward side they found little miss Lei Ola, she was resting by herself peacefully. Glad she wasn't stuck in the middle of the boys having a free for all.
Team Billand's next find was Ka'ena RO40 who was sleeping quietly. It took them a bit to get his ID but was finally get a read on his tag.
This afternoon they stopped by Plains and first found Pohaku RO28 by the fence. Apparently the lifeguards had wrapped the poles to the fence because one of the poles was broken. It kept people away but it's also a hazard. Hopefully will get fixed soon. Team also found Buster V08 by the showers. Buster was very alert since so many of the surfers were crossing by in front of him. Team Billand called the hotline.
Meanwhile photographer Melody stopped by Plains on her way home and also found Pohaku and Buster. Good news is Pohaku left about 5:00 pm and Melody heard from the lifeguards there were going to be some repairs done to the fence. Melody stuck around for a while and talked with the crowds.
