Early this morning Lesley could see from her driveway there was a seal down at Camp Erdman Pt. When she went to check she thought she would find PVKauai, but she was in for a surprise and found RIP R70. Looking further up the beach right in front of their beach path another seal and another surprise R303 BG. What a great morning of surprise for Lesley! When she checked both locations this evening both RIP and BG were gone.
At 6 am Team Billand was out at Makaha, there they found Benny RE74. The tide was very high hitting the sea wall up to the naupaka bushes. But Benny was snuggled in his little corner nice and dry with his coconut :-) Team Billand called the hotline.
Barbara had the opportunity to watch the moon set, the sun rise, Hawaiian Bees in the Naupaka, alone with a pretty moth. (I guess there is such a thing) Moments like these, lucky we live Hawaii. Barbara also got a great shot of an american flag waving in the breeze, tattered but still flying high, with the moon in the background. Barbara's message: " No matter how hard things get, keep trying..."
It took a long time for da Benny to wake up, he was stretching, sneezing, peeing and then shuffled away from his coconut to the waters edge. Team Billand left at 10:35 and Benny left five minutes after them.
Team Billand got a call at 1:19 of a haul out at Hau Bush while they were with Benny. They called the hotline to notify them of the information. Team Billand arrived at Hau Bush at 1:49 to find Pohaku at the waters edge. There were numerous footprints around her and two men sitting in chairs watching her, enjoying the seal and the sea. Pohaku is looking very healthy or as Barbara put it "marvelously fat". No new marks on her body, she was resting while they were there. Team Billand called the hotline again, to pass along the ID.
