12/29/2017 Monk Seal Dailies: PvKauai RW02, Kekoa RK72, RN14, Kaale RH32, R353, Benny RE74, RIP RR70, Kauai Kolohe RK36, Kaimana RJ58, u/u Rabbit Island, and Kolohe RW22

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Tammy T and Gayle. Over all perception of the day, school is out, people on vacation so there are lots of folks on the beaches.  (and on the roads)

When Team Billand go to Maili they saw one seal on the rocks and multiple seals off shore fighting/playing foraging. One by one they came in. RW02 PvKauai was the first seal on the rocks who was alone snoozing. Kekoa Alii RK72 was spotted on the high rocks snoozing and almost hidden away.  RN14 was next up and another critter was right behind him. Last one up on the rocks Kaale RH32 little butt head to join the other seals.

The big surprise of the day for Team Billand was the seal who had been foraging with the boys was R353 female from Niihau. She was ID'd by her recent cookie shark bite wounds.  She was seen swimming off by herself, then the other seals would chase her. Once all the boys came up on the rocks after lots of fighting and foraging, R353 staying off shore. Barbara commented she was still off shore on her later check and the all four boys still in the same spot snoozing.

Team Billand passed Makaha Surfing Beach and spied a seal on shore. They got to the site and to their surprise there was da Benny RE74. He was most likely visited by some people since there were footprints around him. He is looking nice and chubby and they were able to see his tags.

Then by Makua Cliffs they spotted a large seal thinking maybe it was RL42, so they went to check it out. Well they were soooo wrong it was RIP RR70 lookimg like a huge pregnant female.  Good news for RIP since he was looking pretty skinny not so long ago.

Tammy went solo today (Team T without D) except she wasn't alone, there was lots of people on the trails today.  While out at Ka'ena Point she found RK36 (Kauai Kolohe) in the main pool.  Other than that seems there were more people than seals.

Tammy also decided to make another stop and found this little cutey on a white sandy beach on the North Shore. Good to see this
little girl RJ58 Kaimana.

Gayle spotted one critter on Rabbit Island. Gayle also went and checked out Lanai Lookout while it was raining. Chances are this the same seal as yesterday being Kolohe RW22. Gayle couldn't make an absolute positive ID. But it's fairly safe to say.... it's him.
