The Dawn Patrol was on it at 0600 at AD to find Irma (R010) and Ka Iwi snoozin' right where they'd been last night. The did a swim session from 0720 until 0801, hauling out to their starting point, and doing a feed. When I got back midday, they were doing another swim, and once again hauled out the the same starting point. They were snoozin' on my last check of the day . I got to Makai Pier at 0846 for an abbreviated Rabbit Island session. I found Kolohe (RW22), Duke (RA12), Nani (RK60), and Sadie (RB12), all in a group , in the Morning Glory, 60 ft left of 1BS. All but Sadie would do a swim/play session at 0907. I love that all these young'ens hang out together! As it should be.Team Billand reported M&M (R020) at Guard Rails Beach in Maili at 0900. They found RIP (RR70) at Maili Point at 0930. At 1550 they reported RI37 at Paradise Cove.

RI37 @ Paradise Cove and she is looking healthy, and has a beautiful new coat.
Initially one would look at this crowd and think holy crap.... but take a closer look none of them are even looking at RI37.... Wouldn't it be nice if this happened all the time?

There were 700 people at this Luau. The folks at the Paradise cove were very respectful and helped us guard I37, we are so grateful to them.
At one point, the show was on,the crowd moved all along the perimeter to watch the demo's on throw netting, laying a net in front of the seal. But the guys came up to us to ask if it was ok and will the seal attack them in the water. We told them, nets are very dangerous, but if you keep an eye out, watch the seals movement, it should be ok. (SPOOKY)
The net was layed along the cove, we watched, the crowd cheered at times with all the action going on and the announcer for the show, kept asking the crowd, lets make some noise for our netters, for our hukilau folks. THats when it got a little scary, as the seal was looking up, around, as if she was going to RUN. But in the end, all was good. They even had the HUKILAU PATROL, in hula skirts, dancing, getting silly on shore so that too brought cheers from all those people. Phew, demo is over, I37, was back to settling down, NETS were out of the water.Conch shell blown, the LUAU DINNER was ON. Everyone went to chow down. The sun had set, we advised the authorities if they could remove our equipment if the seal should leave and YES, they will take care of things. 7:00pm we left I37 on her own,..but we felt the guys out at Paradise cove were respectful and understood our pleas. Quite a happening at Paradise Cove. Oh and they all asked about the fat pregnant seal that was looking for a spot to give birth earlier. We told them of Irma's birthing at AD's. We also told the guys, that I37, was here at this location for the first time. Who knows what her plans are for her future..hmmmmm.
