Reporting for 9-11-2011. I watched R5AY and La'akea Sunday from 1 to 7pm. No real swimming occurred but pup did do an "up and over" on mom. I mean La'akea was resting on the high side of mom then decided she wanted to go into the want and literally undulated right over the middle of mom and head straight to the water. Mom didn't even blink an eye. She really just looked exhausted and depleted.
La'akea was so funny, sticking her nose and eyes only in the shallow, blowing bubbles. I could tell thru the binoculars that she was scouting the underwater area with her eyes to see if she could see anything...then she did the same thing only completely rolled over belly up with her head underwater blowing bubbles and looking around. It was totally hilarious. I guess you would have had to have been there but it was way to cool!

sorry that's water not want...and i re-read the thing.
Oh and we had Right Spot out past Kahuku Point at Hanakailio Beach. Thanks to a few hikers who let me know, then I called Karen who was getting ready to go out there and really see what seal it was when just in the nick of time a hiker from da big island passed by and had the perfect Right Spot's right spot photo. So I was able to catch Karen in her tracks and she didn't have to go. I did call the hotline first. Now all we need is an update on Ua Malie. I will try to go soon! aloha, kelly girl
