Aloha!
This was great! I recommend people to attend next week's lecture! Tracey did great and I never get tired hearing about these little critters... Added bonus, got to spend time with fellow volunteers. Good people... good times!

Tracy Wurth did an excellent lecture on Monk Seals in the Main Hawaiian Island and NWHI. There was a full interested audience and many asked questions on WHY the seals arent doing good in NWHI as they are in the MAIN HI I. Tracy thinks it could be LACK OF FOOD and NWHI got more large predators. How sad that is happening...seals in NWHI are dying at 4% a year. The main Hi I. seals are having pup rate increases, pups here are fatter and servival rate is good. She said they measured our pups compared to the NWHI pups, OUR PUPS GIRTH ARE FAR BIGGER!! She talked of the seals that are habituated here, who were relocated else where such as R042, an important female, now on Nehoa. How KP2 our MOLOKAI STAR who is next to be relocated soon. Awesome job TRACY!!! We learned a lot. And in the end, Jason, the guy who takes care of the lectures being presented, had to close the answer and question session, as TIME RAN OUT! So glad we all made the talk. I might add, Tracy looked really pretty last night, she done good!!
