DLNR Taking a Proactive Approach to Kapapa Island

Aloha Good People

I caught this news clip during the evening and wanted to comment on it...

The good news... its nice to see and hear that DLNR is taking a look at places like Kapapa Island and seeing there are problems that have to be dealt with. Since Kapapa Island isn't a wildlife sanctuary there aren't any rules to enforce and from this news clip they're looking to change that. Wonderful!

Now... how do we get them to enforce the rules and laws on the places that are already deemed wildlife sanctuaries? I know there are some hard working individuals out there... I know they are short handed and I know the state doesn't have funds.. BUT... something needs to be done at places like Rabbit Island which is a wildlife sanctuary... Perhaps some regular patrolling of the area will discourage people from landing on the island.. seems those LARGE BLUE SIGNS that say NO LANDING isn't enough... maybe a speaker system so they can be yelled at... maybe surveillance cameras??? Who knows..? I would like to know they at the very least acknowledge there is a growing problem out there... AND it needs attention. Thank you for listening.
