August 1, 2026 Saturday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn made it out to Ka'ena Point today with a friend. They were out there between 8:30 am to 1 pm.
RL47 Kamakana was near the water down from Camp Erdman: adult size, old coat, male belly and L46 and L47 tags.
At BB, they found PO12 who apparently weaned overnight. Mom RL42 was no where to be seen.
PO12 was in the water when they first checked. Later when they returned she had again entered the water, but hauled out and was playing with a stick before going into snooze mode. Recent weaner size, female belly, obviously no tags yet, she looks healthy.
Among the rocks between BB and Lymans beach was RU56 Lehua: juvenile size, very green, female belly and U56 and U57 tags.
On the runway side of Ka'ena's Pool was R416 Makali'i: adult size, male belly, distinctive ventral scar and colored parches no tags.
On the runway was RW02 PvKauai: adult size, old coat, male belly and R76 tag.  There were no seals out at the point.

Team R&B first find was RP28 Wakea up on shore resting near the bath house. They were watching from afar when all of a sudden a big dog appeared with a long leash attached.
The dog went around the seal at first sniffing, RP28 awoke and dog started to around around the seal faster and getting close. RP28 started barking at the dog. The dog barked back, but RP28 kept moving around to scare off the dog and finally the  dog left, went under the trees by the tents.
Team R&B notified the hotline and sent photos let them know about the dog, they asked how many people were there? Bottom line there was one big dog bothering the seal.
Team R&B drove over and was able to ID RP28 Wakea. They looked her over and didn't see any bite marks or new wounds. She had moved up more. Team R&B went looking for the dog but didn't find it. They were shaken up by the whole incident.

At another location on the west side they were so happy to find another seal. The seal was very green with two tags P30/31. It's Puka ! He is so green got to be ready to molt soon.

Team R&B decided to check out plains. As they arrived a man stopped them and said there was a little seal earlier but wasn't sure if it was still there.
They didn't seen anything at Tower 2 but then saw a green seal at Tower 1.
It was RT06 Marvin and dis bugga is greener than ever.
There were lots of kids near the seal that kept entering the zone that the lifeguards put up. One of the lifeguards kept yelling at the kids to get back, move away from the seal. Then less than 2 minutes later they were back over and over.
Team R&B stayed for a while wondering if RT06 would react. Finally Team R&B called it a day, after the dog incident and now the kids who aren't listening.
