Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 10:56 am to 12:40 pm and there were seven seals seen during that time.
MO3 and her pup PO3 were in the water when Marilyn arrived. She found them hauled out about 15 feet Lanikai side of the 1BS at 11:24 am. PO3 is beginning to pack on the pounds. Marilyn was able to see both the Allflex tag and the applied 3 bleach on PO3's back. IT appears MO3 has w wavy scar on her ventral in front of her rear flippers. Hopefully that will help trying to get her ID.
RF34 PUA and PO5 were on the 2BS side of Middle Cliff. Pua's head was hidden behind the water front rocks. PO5 nursed once while Marilyn was watching and then moved behind mom.
RK38 Hali'a was again on the 3BS side of the SRI rock flats. Her pup PO4 was mostly hidden behind her so Marilyn really didn't see much of the pup.
Partially hidden behind rocks between SRI and RRB was an Unknown Unknown: probably sub-adult size, yellow ventral, no info on tags or sex. This might be RS12 Hoku who was on island last Thursday.
Team R&B had a very frustrating day. There were quite a few beaches closed today, Yoks, Nimitz and White Plains. All for different reasons.
They checked Kahe and did find Miss RS32 resting. She was alone on the rocks sleeping peacefully.
Even with the beaches closed they checked where ever they could with no results. They made one last stop and saw the boobies diving for fish. As they were watching the boobies, a seal popped up, with a green face. The seal had red tags but they couldn't tell who it was. Then the seal did a big dive and they saw the bleach marks and they knew it was RL20 Kalua. He was very busy foraging.
As always Team R&B always find some kine of critter, today there was a mongoose slithering about eating something.
