Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:45 am to 1:47 pm and there either eleven or twelve seals seen during that time. There was lots of moving around which made it difficult to keep track of which seal was which.
On the Lanikai side of LPB was MO3 and PO3. Both seem to be doing fine. Later in the viewing session three male seal surrounded MO3 and PO3.
When Marilyn started viewing there were two male seals closer to the 1BS side of LPB:
Adult Male: adult size, older coat, male belly, not sure about taags.
R7AF: adult size, male belly two red tags and N61 applied bleach on left rear side.
Later a third adult male seal joined the other two males: It is possible the 3rd adult male was the sub-adult male, that Marilyn describes below. There were spats among the seals. Later the three males moved in the Lanikai direction and then hassled MO3 and PO3.
Between 1BS and 2BS was a Sub-adult Male: sub-adult size, light mottled male belly,, unsure about tags. The SM disappeared before Marilyn found the 3rd male on LPB.
About 20 feet Lanikai side of the 3BS was a Juvenile Female: larger juvenile size, older coat, yellowish-brown female belly; not sure about tags.
About 1/3 the distance between the 3BS and SRI was RF34 Pua and her pup PO5. The pup ventured into the water for a while, but then it moved back to mom and nursed. Both mom and pup seem fine.
Another 60-70 feet towards SRI from RF34 and pup was RK38 Hali'a and her pup PO4. They started out on the waterfront rocks where PO4 nursed and then moved up on the beach. Both mom and pup seem happy and healthy. Marilyn did seeRK38's applied bleach on her left side, but it didn't show up in the photos.
Up from the SRI channel was a thin seal, labeled as a Juvenile Unknown: juvenile to small sub-adult size, light ventral and undetermined sex. Not sure about tags.
Team R&B started on the west where the found Miss Kala RH76. They surprised to see her still hanging around the west side. But only Kala knows what she is going to do.
Next they stopped at kahe where they found RL20 Kalua. They saw his two different bleach numbers N11 on his back and N17 on his right side.
Of course they decided to head over to plains to see what today would bring. They were thrilled when they arrived to see there were four seals and lots of people out there.
Closest to the fence line were RL12 Aukai in the company of RN14 Kalani.
Then there were two more. They were happy to see RT06, seems he likes hauling out here and he's pretty darn cute. R407 was with him and they were both getting somerest. There were plenty of people out and about today.
On the way home they made one final stop at cliffs where they found a seal resting on his back. They ID'd RP30 Puka. Today was a great seal day especially compared to yesterday.
