May 17, 2026 Sunday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:29 to 2:15 pm and there were nine seals today.
Marilyn was surprised to find two mom and pup pairs on LPB. RK38 and PO4 joined MO3 and PO3 on the beach.
Nearer the LPB channel was MO3 and her five week old pup PO3. They had an extended nursing session before moving up the beach and were essentially behind the other mom and pup.
RK38 Hali'a and her pup PO4 were closer to the shore on LPB. They
too, moved up the beach. Marilyn is reasonably sure she saw at least one tag on RK38. Mom and pup seem healthy.
RF34 Pua and her pup PO5 were again located between the 1BS and 2BS. They did enter the water for an extended swim. Later they hauled out a short time before Marilyn left for the day.
Between Middle Cliff and 3BS was Sub-Adult Female 1: sub-adult size, green female belly and two red tags.
Between 3BS and SRI was Sub-adult Female 2: sub-adult size, light female belly and two red tags.
Initially behind waterfront rocks on the RRB side of SRI channel was an Unknown Sub-adult. The seal briefly showed its belly, but Marilyn couldn't be sure show its reported as an unknown. Later the SU moved up closer to the cliff. No info on tags.

Team R&B started their day on the west side. Their first find was R3CX Nalu. He was on the rocks where Kala usually spends time. Then he moved into the pond area where she often sleep. Guess he is missing her. Then he moved into a crevasse  and was completely
hidden.
While in the area they spotted a seal swimming. The seal was coming into the area and it was RH76 Miss Kala. She came into seal inlet looked around, then cautiously hauled up to the zen area. Miss Kala is looking quite large.
They saw another seal swimming by but could not get an ID. They could see it was an adult with tags. The seal never landed so it was reported as an Unknown Adult.

Out on the water they spotted dolphins swimming about. Then they saw a fin moving really fast and realized it was a shark. That could be why the dolphins were going every which way.
Then they came across RG28 Lefty. He was alone resting in a pond. They were happy to see him.

Lastly they got word of a seal on the rocks. They headed over after waiting out the heavy rains, that lasted over an hour.  But it was worth the wait, they found on the rocks RP30 Puka. Then the waves washed him off and he started to look for a new spot. Eventually he gave up and left.
