May 18, 2026 Monday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💖

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:49 to 2:17 pm and there were eight seals seen during that time.
In the middle of LPB were RK38 Hali'a and PO4. The pup briefly headed for the water but turned around and came back to mom. There was an extended nursing session. PO4 looks small but healthy. RK38 was ID'd by her lower neck scar and lighter ventral.
Down from the 1BS were MO3 and her pup PO3. PO3 seems to be putting on the pounds while MO3 seems to get smaller daily. PO3 has a temporary Allflex tag and seems fine. Marilyn isn't sure how much longer MO3 will be around. She did see one nursing session.
Between the 1BS and the 2BS were RF34 Pua and her pup PO5. Both seem to be doing fine. PO5 nursed for a while and then they both moved up the shore and went into snooze mode.
About 20-25 feet Makapuu of the 3BS were two seals:
Sub-adult Unknown: sub-adult size, not sure of sex or tags.
Sub-adult Female: sub-adult size, green coat, female belly and two red tags. Marilyn suspect this seal will molt sometime soon.
There were lots of Sooty Terns flying around.

Team R&B started off on the west side. They spotted two seals on the rocks snoozing. They were able to ID RP30 Puka to the right. The other seal was a male on the upper rocks. He didn't give them much to work with other than a small scar on his lower ventral side. He was reported as an Unknown Male.

They saw from afar a seal on shore at AKi's in Makaha. They also spotted turtles and signs posted. They hurried over and were excited to find RS32. But that changed while they were there. The signs were close to the turtles and seal and one of the guys laid on the sand facingRS32. There were folks playing volleyball and of course the ball fell next to RS32. One of the girls used her paddle to hit the ball away. RS32 postured.
A wave washed up and hit the seal and turtles. RS32 moved really close to the guy laying in the sand. The guy got up really fast since the seal was about two feet away.
