May 9, 2024 Thursday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn, Tammy , and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:45 to 2:05 and there were four seals seen during that time.
On the 1BS side of LPB were two seals:
Adult Male: large adult size, dark coat, dark male belly and at least one probably two red tags.
Nearby was a Sub-adult Female: small sub-adult to large juvenile size, light female belly and two tags.
There was a brief interaction between the AM and SF but then they both went into snooze mode.
RF34 Pua and PO3 were between Middle Cliff and 3BS initially on the waterfront rocks. They moved slightly up the beach, the pup nursed and then both went into snooze mode. PO3 gave a full view of his belly and Marilyn confirmed we have a male. Last year all of the Oahu pups were female, so its good to welcome a boy and having a good mix this year.
There were two humans sitting on the far Makapuu side of RRB during much of Marilyn's time. She did not see any kayaks or boards that could have brought them there. They got their spearguns and fins and entered the water. They were never anywhere near any of the seals.

Tammy went out to the point today with Lesley. They came across four seals today. First seal was RK42, a female seal from Kauai. Next find was R330 Squinty on the runway. Out at the point was Kaipo R420 and the other side was Kamakana RL47.  They were also very lucky and spotted a calf breaching.
In yesterday's news Team R&B did see RH32 Kaale at Kahe.  For some reason the email didn't come through.  Anyway they were happy and surprised to see him again.

In todays news their first find was at Nimitz. They spotted a seal but also saw a guy with a spear, poking the reef for tako.  They saw a seal coming up and thankfully the guy left. Well well well the seal was RL12 Aukai (apparently she hasn't gotten the memo she is suppose to be on Rabbit Island). Aukai landed, buried her head then took off heading east. She landed again of which they followed, but by the time they made out to her she took off again. This little game went on for a couple of hours, she would haul out and leave.
Team R&B gave up and went to check another spot in the area.  There they found RN14 Kalani on the reef resting.
As they were heading back to the car they spotted a seal just off the jetty, heading toward land. The seal was going right were there was a family having a ceremony, thankfully they all got out of the water. The seal was Aukai again, she then turned away and headed further out and to the west.  Team R&B gave up and headed out.

On their last stop at Kahe they found one seal. It was RG32 alone on the rocks.
