May 10, 2024 Friday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:45 to 1:55 and there were three seals seen during that time.
When Marilyn started viewing only RF34 Pua and PO3 (day 39) were on island. Mom is looking fairly thin. The pup was in snooze mode for the entire time Marilyn was watching. At 1:00 pm, Marilyn noticed Mom was alert and soon realized why. There was an Adult Male was just offshore of mom and pup. Mom made her displeasure known with what looked like a lot of vocalizing. The AM then moved back into the water and swam away.
About 10 minutes later, what Marilyn believes to be the same AM hauled out on LPB. He kept looking around, probably hoping to see other seals (like the SF that was there yesterday). Marilyn only saw AM's sand covered belly briefly, but she is reasonably sure he's the same seal as yesterday. She was able to confirm that he has two red tags.

Team R&B started their day on the west side finding two seals. Kai RM31 was at the seal inlet area. Further to the right was R416 the cutie male alone and resting.

While they were at Nimitz they got a call of a seal at Plains. They hurried over and saw the lifeguard putting the last sign in place. The seal that was in the zone, scurried into the water. Then they saw another seal in the water. They are labeling the seal that took off in the water as an Unknown Adult. The UA was too far to get any clues as to who it was.
But the seal in the water came closer and they ID'd RN14 Kalani. He landed by the two cabins and the lifeguard quickly ran over to move the signs over to create a zone for RN14.
They looked around for the other seal but didn't see it again.

Back at Nimitz they saw a seal labeled it as an Unknown Adult. They aren't sure if its the same UA seen at Plains. The seal was too far away to get closer. They could see it was an adult that hauled out, rolled back into the water and left the area.
