Team Billand was out and about for a bit today and at 11 am they hit the trifecta at a west-side beach.
On the rocks there were three seals; the first two were Kawena RH36 and RG28 Lefty and just beyond them was Kekoa Alii RK72 snoozing on his side.
Left and Kawena's tags were visible made for an easy ID. Volunteer Melina stopped by and hung out with Barb for a while as they talked about the scar on Kawena's rear left side, which makes for a good marker.
About an hour later Team Billand made one more stop and found "fat boy" aka "butthead" RH32 Ka'ale. He was resting and the waves were just touching his hind flippers. His tag was partially visible. He is looking very healthy, thankfully no hooks. He is a BIG boy for a three year old, not to mention how many times he has been hooked and tossed them on his own and the times NOAA had to step in to remove some hooks. Let's just hope this boy's luck doesn't run out because getting hooked hasn't stopped his bad behavior.
Thank you Team Billand for checking in.
