On a pan at 1156 I found what would prove to be Nani (RK60) at Right Middle Cliff, RI. She would be joined by Aukai at 1300.
Gayle checked in at 1140 with the report of Kaiwi (RK96) snoozin’ in the Naupaka at her China Walls hangout.
I sent yesterday’s T21M wound shots to the office. Thea and Tracy each thought that they were bite wounds of some kind, as opposed to my fishing line wounds thought. That is why they are my Senseis .
Cianna called at 1121 with a report of an animal at Secrets, KoOlina. The Billands would confirm the Pohaku (RO28) ID at 1140.
Afternoon email from Karen Turner brought news of La’akea (RK82) at Right Spot’s Spot, Kaihalulu Beach, Turtle Bay .
Ocean Safety called at 1631 reporting an animal at Kaimana Beach. Notified Dana & the Hotline. Dana called at 1730 to advise that Colleen had cordoned off what she thought to be Rocky. Dana called at 1835 to advise that Jason had reported the arrival of a second seal. No further word at this time.
When I checked the HMS Research Program Site this afternoon I found a newly posted shot of the female, Temp401, whom you might remember from back in May when she was found on Rabbit Island with a pretty mean shark bite, facial wound . Tracy posted a shot of the little girl today on Maui, from an unknown volunteer. As always I was completely amazed with the recuperative powers that these animals possess. Diane Gabriel’s shot from last May gives you some idea how far Temp401 has come. AMAZING !!!
Kimo Smith did the Ka’ena Point trek today. He reported Luana (RN58) at Mokuleia, and Ka’ena (RO40),RIP (RR70), RW02 & Temp402 at the point. He also advised that he had received word that R912 was at Keaau’s.

Pohaku is back in KoOlina. We watched her from 11:40am to 3:34pm.
We left her and she was gone by 4pm when Terri went to do her watch.
We tried to educate folks, NOT TO GO IN THE ZONE. We tried to stay as long as possible, because we know what goes on at KoOlina...we are hoping if she is there again, that volunteers come out to help keep her safe.
Most folks are very respectable, some are respectable WHILE WE ARE AT SITE..who knows what goes on when a seal is ALONE. Please volunteer, it is needed.
She looked so beautiful on the rocks, trying to snooze. When she moved closer to shore, that became a worry, she is so close..thats when folks will TALK TO HER. If only they could just stay behind the ropes, be quiet, let her REST.
She is not a pet, keep her wild.
Be respectful...LET HER BE. THanks.
HOW COOL IS IT TO SEE TEMP 401, alive and healed. She is an amazing creature, I wish one day to meet her...that is my mission, meet her. I thrive on a seals determination, stamina, strengths. It gives me....hope, it gives me a boost to keep trying NO MATTER HOW TOUGH IT GETS...THANKS TEMP 401.
