9/15/2014 DB's Dailies:

It was a busy little Rabbit Island day, with a cast of six critters, on my 0738 check. Most importantly, I found the small U/F I spoke of yesterday. By 0920 I had confirmed line and a bobber on the left side of her mouth. I notified Thea, and a NOAA team of Mark, Maire, John, Greg & Eric responded. I was stoked to find out that it was , in fact, Pua (RF34) the 5 month old , born to Sadie on 4-3-14, on RI. Mark advised that it was a small hook and was removed without any difficulty. Thanks guys..... Ya’ Done Good !!

 I also found most of the rest of the cast at 0738. Mark confirmed all the ID’s for me, and there was one “Oooops” involved. The animal that I called Duke yesterday turned out to be Kekoa (RK72) instead.

The rest were Kainoa (RN04), and a surpise guest visitor, Kaiwi (RK96). The 2 molting females were confirmed as Nani (RK60), 30 % molted, and Aukai (RL12), who Mark says was 90% molted. All of them interacted with one another at one point or another, each hauling out all over the place.

 At 0605 Team Billand reported Pohaku (RO28) at Maili Beach Park. Pohaku was run off according to a witness, by a guy taking photos inside the zone.

 The highlight of their day came at 1119 when they reported the return of Makaiwi (R4DF) to Oahu. They found her in the company of Buster (RV08) fronting #1806, Nimitz Cottages. She’d last been seen here on 7-18-14 at KBP before heading off for a Big Island stay, with stops on Maui.

 The Billands are still working after dark, as has been the case of late. Check the blog in the morning for their day.
