As a side note Marilyn will be leaving for the holidays this week.
Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:15 to 1:55 and there were only two seals seen during that time.
About 40 feet of the 1BS was Adult Male 1: adult to subadult size, newer coat, medium gray male belly and two red tags.
Near the 3BS was Adult Male 2: adult size, light gray male belly and two red tags.
I'll start by saying Team R&B had a frustrating day, and honestly there are times I wonder how they doit day after day. They are truly dedicated and passionate about our beloved monk seals, not to mention other living creatures. My message to them is stay strong, we appreciate you and sending you big hugs.
So this morning they were on their way to Kapolei and noted the Akule Boats were out. By the time they got back there were lots of swimmers, some people saying they saw four seals all at the nets.
When they watched they only saw three seals at the nets that were stretched from jetty to jetty. Two boats were out there with the nets for the longest time. Team R&B could see the plastic bags that keep the nets afloat going into the outfall. A seal grabbed the bag and pulled at it, tossing his head around.
One seal was RH32 Kaale and the other one with cc scars was RL08. They could not get an ID on the 3rd seal, it was an adult with clean coat.
After watching this for an hour they gave up and just couldn't watch anymore. And yes this was called into the hotline.
Next stop they found Miss Kala RH76 alone resting at her spot.
RL20 Kalua hauled out about 30 minutes later.
They saw Nalu R3CX resting at Restcamp. He was alone on this rainy cloudy day. He did have signs up around him.
Lastly they watched the whales off of yoks.
