December 16, 2023 Saturday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn, posse pal Justin, and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:05 to 1:55 and there were five seals during that time.
Initially alone between 1BS and 2BS was an Adult Male 1: adult size, light gray male belly and two red tags.
At 1:12 she noticed another seal hauling out to AM1. This was reported as Unknown Adult: adult size, newer coat, two red tags and unsure about sex.
There were three seals between 3BS and SRI.  Closer to 3BS were two seals:
Adult Male 2: adult size, male belly, about 90% molted, and Marilyn did not see tags. He seems to have old fur on some parts of the dorsal surface.
Sub-adult Male: subadult size, lighter ventral and good chance its a male, unsure about tags.
Initially up in the dunes was Adult Male 3: adult size, newer coat, light to medium gray male belly, unsure about tags. This seal has a pit scar on the rear size of the base of his LFF and a line scar on his RFF. When he came down from the dunes he slid straight down.

Posse pals Justin and Christine were at Ka'ena Point today. They saw a monk seal with tag 1KO, which is TA68 male born in 2009 on Laysan.  He seems to have made himself at home here on Oahu.  They called the hotline and sent photos.

Team R&B started their day with multiple seals in the water. Getting their IDs was a challenge with all the movement of fighting, foraging and vocalizing. It took them a couple of hours to sort it all out.
RH48 Lei Ola was the one female they could ID..... and that's because of her beautiful applied N48 bleach.
Next they best they could do was two hanging out by the boats, were labeled. Unknown Adult and Unknown Unidentified.
After a while the seal left with only one staying behind. It was RL20 who was playing with a plastic bottle in between foraging.
Team R&B got a couple of great photos of  a Boobie that landed close by.

At another west side location they found RG28 Lefty alone on lower rocks. He eventually entered the waterhole and took off.

From afar they could see a seal on shore. When they arrived to the area there was RN14 Kalani. He was resting despite people walking in front of him getting close for photos.
The whales put on show for a bit.

Lastly they reported RH32 Kaale. He was alone on the rocks resting.
