Well I have to say in the monk seal (blog) world today felt a little more normal (whatever that means).
FIRST and FOREMOST we have some very BIG news...
At some point during the week, Pua RF34 weaned her pup PO1. For all purposes it appears it's a boy and he seems to be doing fine. NOAA has been informed but given the stay at home order it will probably be a bit before anyone gets out to the island to tag the kid.
NOW if that wasn't big enough news sometime in the last couple of days there was another pup born on Rabbit Island! (insert happy dance). No positive ID on who the Momma is other than we know RL12 Aukai was due, so we're guessing maybe it's her. Once again NOAA has been informed of the birth.
Also our posse pal Justin was paddling in Waikiki when he came across a very large bathing beauty. No tags, and no real distinguishable markings. If anyone has any clues please weigh in, I personally think it's a female.
We also got reports of Ka'ale, Lefty RG28, and RL20 Kalua was seen on the west side.
