Also a quick update from Tracy at NOAA.... PO5 was given a bleach "stripe" today to ensure they will be able to tell the difference between the two pups. Since they're close in age, it's difficult to tell apart, although it was confirmed that PO4 is a boy. This is going to be so much fun watching the antics of two kids growing up together (Thing 1 Thing 2).
Team Billand was out all day searching for RH32 Kaale, looking at all the usual spots and coming up empty. At a Leeward Beach they sat and waited. They noticed a critter with bumps on his back mid section and a partial bleach number. They ID'd Kekoa RK72 doing seven minute dives. They kept scanning for other seals, but no luck today.
Waiting for Kekoa to haul out finally paid off, he came up on high rock, but today he did a left turn and stayed there for a bit facing the ocean. Later he moved to his usual spot and remained there alone.
Canadian posse pal Darlene went to visit Kaiwi and PO3. Darlene has been staying on the Ewa side and looking for seals coming up empty, so she needed a fix and decided to visit with Kaiwi and PO3.
Upon arrival Mom and pup were having a swim session. They stayed in the water for over an hour, and then moved up onto the beach for a nursing session.
