5/20/2018 Monk Seal Dailies:

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Marilyn and Melody.  Plus a little special commentary from me the wave maker ;-)

Team Billand was out at their usual spots and found no critters today. So Robert and Barb decided to take a ride and visit with Kaiwi RK96 and PO3. Can't say I blame them given such a sad week nothing better than sitting with a Mom and Pup.

Melody sent news of spending time with Miss Rocky RH58 today. Apparently she spent the night and had a lot of visitor and it gave Melody a chance to do some outreach with some of the new residents and visitors in the community. Rocky got back into the water, spent some time foraging for some food and then took off towards Diamond Head direction.
Also kudos to Melody and and eight of her friends who got special permission from Joint Base Police at Pearl Harbor/Hickam to do a beach cleanup this morning of the Pearl Harbor Channel. Thank you for making the beach a little safer for the marine life out there.

There was a group of us out today and Lesley, Diane, Tammy and myself joined Marilyn at the pier this afternoon. Upon arriving we did not immediately see anyone. Then eagle eyes Lesley located Sadie RB12 and PO6 at the waterline on Left Point Beach. They moved up the beach and were visible for the rest of the day. Marilyn witnessed one nursing session.

We saw a small part of what we thought was RK38 Hali'a straight down from 3BS. Then while watching I thought she went into the water. After we all left and Marilyn stayed RK38 hauled out about 20 feet west of 3BS and then played with a stick for about 20 minutes. (typical weaner).

As a follow up from yesterday's gathering we met up today with a wonderful group of seal ohana today. It was an extra treat to be catch up with Team Billand at Kaiwi's site.  My love for this seal ohana is beyond words.  I have known many of them for years and consider all of them my dear friends. We shared lots of stories, laughs and tears in this weekend.... All will go down in the books.
