10/17/17 Monk Seal Dailies: (part 2) U/U at Campbells, RL42 and Right Spot (R016)

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Gayle and Lesley.  (Lesley's findings are in previous post).

Team Billand day started with a U/U (unidentified/unknown) foraging off of Campbells. The UU was doing 5 to 6 minute dives. The winds were blowing and there was too many choppy waves to get an ID. Watching closely they ruled out Pohaku as it had a green snout. Whoever it was does not have a shiny new coat. Possible Kekoa but just a guess.

Team Billand's next find was RL42 at Makua Cliffs. She was alone on the rocks, basking in the sun peacefully. She was ID'd by her tag, no new marks, her condition looks healthy. They left at 2:30 pm.

Team Billand also noted that Benny has spent the night at Paradise Cove, but by the time they got there he had just left the site. Wallows near water and a strong smell of urine. Barb noted that he always pees before leaving a site (lol - a little tidbit of information for the books :-) Before leaving Paradise Cove they put all the signs back.

Gayle is happy to report that Right Spot (R016) to the east side of the 2nd life guard stand early morning and she was NO longer in the middle of Sandys.  A volunteer was already on site at 9am, apparently HPD called it in early. Right Spot only has a few small patches of her old fur, so she's not quite done yet with her molt. Right spot went into the water at 17:45, which made Gayle even happier.

Right Spot moved off the main beach at Sandys (yeah!)
