10/21/2017 Monk Seal Dailies:

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and the Saturday Ka'ena Point Trekkers; Lesley, Marilyn, Diane and Jamie.

The Saturday Morning KP Trekkers found RR70 Rip at Back Beach and he appears to have been there over night. In the main pool there was an unknown female who none of them had ever seen. She is untagged and has several scars.

  • a big scar under her muzzle with a little piece of the corner of her lower left side lip missing
  • something that looks like a scare on the right eye, but due to water marks hard to be sure
  • a long black line scar on her cheast
  • under her right top nipple towards her umbilical 3 spots (like bite punctures)
  • a half moon set of punctures around her female external genitals
She may be a new kid on the block, or may have been ID'd on Kauai? or Molokai? or Ni'ihau?
Somewhere in their travels they came across Ka'ena RO40. (Lesley sent photos but didn't mention it in her email).

Team Billand first find was Kekoa Alii RK72 at Maili. He was up mid rocks alone fast asleep.  On their afternoon check he has a friend hanging out with him.  Benny RE74 was to the left resting alone.
Something caught Barbara's eye some kind of string on his hind flipper. She watched him for a while not sure if he was entangled.... in the end... he got worms. (ewwww)  He is fine just trying to get rid of the worms, wiggling on the rocks and flipping over.

Oh and something you don't see everyday, Team Billand sent photos of a submarine off of tracks.
