Lesley was out with Diane and went down to Camp Erdman to check on RW02 PVKauai. He was on his bellie, so they were unable to tell if he has started his molt. He has been there for a week.
They met up with Lara (visitor from Houston) for their Ka'ena Point hike. The big winter swell is still here and there was quite a show.
At the point all the pools were covered with water. On the main beach, giant waves were crisscrossing from the Waianae side to NorthShore side. On Back Beach they found RR70 RIP. He was facing down, and looking a little thin, but might be recovering from his recent molt.
There was a second trail but they never got to see another seal. They were lucky to see the rain coming and never got a drop on them.
Team Billand headed up to the North Shore and found RJ16 Kahulu. They unfortunately were caught in the rain for most of the day. When they found Kahulu he was all alone high up under the trees in a pretty deep sleep. No other seals were found, but they did see lots of portugese man of war all over by the picnic tables.
Gayle reported Right Spot R016 (so the seal that returned last evening Friday, was in fact her). Volunteers were on site today. Also base on yesterday's U/U Team Billand thinks there is a strong possibility it is Da Benny. Gayle also spotted 2 critters on Rabbit Island.
Lots of waves crisscrossing
