HMMA Update from September 11th

A very early morning report came in at 0130 about a seal at Paradise Cove. Melina checked the area at 0615 and did not see the seal. After talking with a security guard she found out the seal had departed sometime between 0300 to 0500. At 0640 a report came in about a seal leaving Zablan. Barbara observed the seal foraging. Later she ID'ed Aukai (RL12) swimming in the Nanakuli area. At 0722 a report came in about a seal at the Outrigger Canoe Club. The seal was ID'ed as Kaiwi (RK96). Jon checked in to report Kaiwi had entered the water at 1230 and stood near the shore for about 15 mins. then she departed. Karen T. checked in at 1012 from Turtle Bay with a report of Lei Ola (RH48) east of the SPZ. tucked in the rocks. She was not very visible from her haul out location. At 1051 a report came in about a seal at the Mokuleia birth beach. Lesley ID'ed Luana (RN58). Dana checked in at 1118 from Depots Beach with a report of a sleeping Pohaku (RO28). At 1230 Steve checked in to report Rocky (RH58) at Kaimana Beach. Rocky would enter the water around 1250. Brittany checked around 1400 to report Kaiwi hauled out again near the wall by Colony Surf.

 Karen T. checked in via email from Turtle Bay. When she arrived at 0915 she noticed Lei Ola (RH48) in between some rocks east of the zone. She wedged herself in between the rocks and was invisible from the beach. Luckily Karen caught photos when she looked up at a helicopter. Lei Ola remained in the same location at 1430.
