On my 1st Rabbit Island check at 0709 I found what would prove to be Kainoa, cuddled up with the log in the Morning Glory, 40 ft left of 1BS. He would move down to the left end of the beach at 0940 and spent the day stayin’ cool at the water line.
On my 2nd RI check at 0907 I found Kolohe (RW22) just hauling out fronting 1BS. He too would snooze away the day at that location.
Gayle called at 1120 to advise that Kaiwi (RK96) was on her usual ledge at China Walls. Kaiwi would depart at 1124.
Team Billand advised that they had spied a small “swimming head” off shore of Nimitz Cove at 1030, but the animal never hauled out, and no ID was possible.
At 1117 they reported Benny (RE74) near the Fire Surf School, at Kalaeloa Campgrounds.
At 1244 they reported Benny again. This time between #1708 & Tower #2 at White Plains. They reported that he had company down the beach, between Tower#1 and the fenceline. It was Haupu (RB24). Haupu departed at 1700. Benny remains, moving higher up to the vegetation line.
