The day got off to a wet and dismal start, and didn’t improve much. Kimo and I braved the early morning elements , but alas it was all for naught, neither of us finding anybody. Gayle’s mid day check was also a bust.
At 0830 , on my 2nd look at Rabbit Island, I found Kainoa (RN04) galumphing in the shallows on the far left end of Rabbit Island. He would finally haul out to the left end rock flats at 0957, where he remained the rest of the day. He was once again the only RI resident today.
At 0729 Team Billand checked in with the report of R018 at Tower #2, and Kermit (R012) at #1707, White Plains. They reported R018's departure at 1215. They also reported Kermit with some interesting spew at that time.
At 1055 they reported Irma (R010) on the verge of hauling out to Wind Sock, but she thought better of it and remained in near shore waters, foraging instead. On a Sunday at Wind Sock, who could blame her.
Barbara called at 1400 to advise that while looking at their shots over lunch, she accidentally deleted everything. As a fellow dummy, I can only say...Been there...done dat !!! They began checking the coastline again trying to recapture the morning cast. Kermit remained so he got all the shots.
Email from Dana brought shots of what would prove to be 2AW taken behind the Polo Field at Mokuleia today. Thank you Carmen !! He had last been seen in Nanakuli , on 4-20-13.
Dera also sent photos of 2AW, also in Mokuleia, on 5-3-13. Thanks Notch & Maragret.
At 1725 Dera reported RI37 at Pohaku Loa Way, North Shore.
