5-27-2013 DB's Dailies: Kainoa,Kaiwi&M38@RI, Buster@SC&KK, Kermit@KR, RB24@KoOlina, Ua Malie@TB, La'akea@Marconi Rd

Kimo checked in at 0653 with the report of Buster (RV08) at Spitting Cave.

Gayle would report Buster at Irma's Grotto, Kokee Flats, at 1108. Both he and I spent the day on the Irma Quest. We both struck out.

At 0913 I found Kainoa (RN04) just hauling out to the right of 1BS on Rabbit Island. He would enter the water at 1108 and I did not see him again today.

From 1027 until 1213 there were Bad Guys (1 male, 1 female) on Rabbit Island. Sadly, the DOCARE call reached only the dreaded recording since DOCARE takes all holidays off (they may have been in Kaneohe Bay, but no where else). They spent 2 hours leisurely hours cruising on the RI beach, with no hope of anything remotely approaching justice. Sad, Sad, Sad !

At 1145 on a pan I found a partially visible animal amongst the rocks at the far left end of RI. Based solely on a hind flipper flex at 1159 showing her RHF natural bleach, plus 2 red tags, I have to go with the Kaiwi (RK96) ID.

At 1215 RM38 hauled out to join Kaiwi. Since both were amongst the rocks I made the M38 ID based on his left side natural bleach, and his posterior dorsal abscess.

At 0743 Team Billand reported Kermit (R012) at Kermit' Reef.

At 0924 the Billands called to advise of an animal at Lagoon #4, KoOlina. At 0949 they confirmed the RB24 ID.

Dana called at 0932 with the Lagoon #4 info, but also advised of Ua Malie (RT10) at Turtle Bay, and La'akea (RK82) around Kahuku Pt, near Marconi Rd.
