8-5-11 DB Dailies

Kolohe (RW22) &Duke (RA12) were up in the Morning Glory , 40 ft left of Seal Rock Inlet, on my 0636 look at Rabbit Island. Duke would remain at the right end of the beach all day. Kolohe would enter the water at 1044, and haul out again to the left end, 80 ft left of 1BS, at 1052, where he remained the rest of the day.  At 1143, Nani (RK60) would haul out the the far left end of the beach, and remain there the rest of the day.

Rachel sent photos at 0739 showing a 55% molted Rocky (RH58), in her usual spot at the showers, at Diamond Head.

Team Billand called at 1018 to advise that posse member Clay Gates, had reported Ewa Girl (RS00) at IRQ.

Tracy checked in at 0815. She and Thea were at the Reef Runway to tag Kekoa, but of course , nobody told Kekoa that. The first run was a bust. They returned at 1300, and found him snoozin' on the birth beach, and he is now sporting his new RK73/73 RK72/73 bling.

Karen Turner came through again with yet another piece of footage of Mom &Pup at the Keiki Pool today.

At 1427 Team Billand called to advise that they were with M&M (R020), and RIP (RR70), still together, at Guard Rails Beach, Maili. RIP is definitely #1 on the Daddy List for next year !

Vera came through with the usual outstanding series of shots of R5AY Pup at the Keiki Pool today. Thank you Vera !!

Dana checked in at 1632 to advise that tourists called in RI37 at Mokuleia, across from Dillingham today. They read the tags for the ID.

No camera angle, that was how close the guy was to the animals. We couldnt believe it, and we were careful NOT TO YELL, We didnt want to disturb the seals. The guy was there two hours he said. He left, and all was fine. Animals remained in the same position...seems Rip is losing some weight keeping up with M and M. She looks like she has gained alot of weight...guess molt to follow laters. We left our selves, hoping not to attract anyone from the highway. Seals are remarkable where they find spots to bask. They were just about 25 feet from the highway...spooky. Whats funny is, I noticed the guy first, staring at something, then noticed the seal. As we approached closer, we noticed M and M only. Then Rip came into view and that was a shock. Seals just blend into their surroundings so well.
