Rob, Clay and I worked hard tying the bumper to two trees. It was low tide, so we could walk up to the bumper. We used our Monk Seal Response ROPES..not very thick, but it worked. Each end of the bumper was tide and knotted, so it wouldn't hurt no one. And just in case a seal would haul up...it was tied up.
Maintenance and Mary came by...they wanted to help. Maintenance got stronger ropes, and brought a truck to site. Retied the bumper both ends again, then the truck tried to pull bumper up shore. It came closer, but truck not strong enough. So the maintenance crew, three men...Ubano, Rod and George were so great, trying hard to pull the bumper out...just it was way too heavy. Well all three men, tied the bumper securely to the trees like we did. We thanked all the guys for their efforts. Mary Of Iroquios, called every agent she could think of, just like us. She was angry the bumper remained, no one came. We thanked her too.
3:40pm We were told no one is coming, to cut the ropes, let it float...WHAT????? NO WAY???!!!! We left it tied to the trees, now bouncing around like crazy with a 2.2 tide slamming it about.
For me, I am so very disappointed in all the organizations who never came by to inspect this object which by the way...was so huge.. Clay and Rob measured it at 16 feet by 10 feet high. It wasn't a rubber duck folks...it was HUGE.
6:00 pm Well, just found out the ropes are all off and the device is now floating and going wildly about the lagoon with boogie boarders out there and parents watching...TSK. TSK.
I don't believe this whole matter. I feel so discouraged.....so disappointed. All our efforts...........for nothing.
This is amazing.... the size of this thing and how many "civilians" were out there to do something.
Look, how huge that is, it could easily crush someone
Heave Ho!
Honestly this could have been sooo dangerous even for you guys
This is one of the reasons I love Barbara and Robert... look at them! No matter how big the obstacle, they are going to do something with it. Geesh guys, please please be careful.
