8-28-11 DB Dailies

The dawn patrol arrived at AD at 0600 to find Irma & Pup, on D#17, snoozin' on the sand, mid site. At 0627, with Irma leading the way they began their march to the sea, and at 0630 they were in their swimming hole, to the east of the water front rock flats and low tide. They did a 1:45 minute loll in the pool, and then hauled out to the flats for a feed and a snooze. When I got back at 1300 the tide was beginning to have an affect, and they began moving up in staqes. I noticed something today that R5AY fans are used to, but I'd not seen with Irma's pup. The kid was hungry and did some insistent biting of Mom, several times. The kid finally got it's feed. By 1400 they were up on the sand with another hour to go before high tide.  (Also added a couple of shots from late morning shift with Karen Rohter.)

I had the chance to do a full check of the SE quadrant for a change, but found nobody until I got to Makai Pier at 0920. The Rabbit Island cast was the same as has been the case for many days now. I found Kolohe (RW22) at right Middle Cliff, and Duke (RA12) and Nani (RK60) at Seal Rock Inlet. Kolohe later moved over to join Duke, and Nani moved off to the right side of Seal Rock Inlet.

Team Billand checked in at 0756 to report RIP (RR70), and M&M (R020) together again at Maili Point. At 1304 they reported that they had found Benny (RE74) swimming off shore of Nimitz Cove, and followed him as he cruised to the east, wanting to haul out, but as is often the case, beach goers line the water front, not allowing him a chance to haul out. They followed through Nimitz Cottages, Kalaeloa Campground and White Plains, with his adoring fans at the water line. They last saw him headed in an Ewa Beach direction.

I reported last night that R5AY& Pup had caused havoc at Turtle Bay, moving 1000 yds to toward the hotel, and then after the cordon was moved, heading back to the Keiki Pool. Vera Cober was part of all that and sent a few photos for Yesterday's News. Dana checked in at 1406 to advise Mom and kid (D#31) spent the day at the Keiki Pool and that the cordon was fully re-erected .

Dawn Patrol with Irma and Pup

Low flying helicopter by Irma and Pup - I saw this same chopper on Friday... don't know if there is some filming going on or if its a regular routine, but they do fly low.
Totally unaware of chopper flying by
 M+M close up and personal
Little Nani's Mom
Either this is M+M's favorite position or she just happens to pose like this for her photo-op.
 M+M and RIP
 RIP R71
Benny swimming with all his buddies at White Plains
All joking aside this is amazing he is in this crowd of people and is totally unaffected
