3-21-11 DB Dailies

At 0718, from the Makapuu Overview I found Kolohe(RW22) snoozin' on the beach,60 ft left of Seal Rock Inlet, on Rabbit Island. When I got to Kaupo Beach Park at 0725 I found that Kolohe was not alone. Duke (RA12) was partially visible up in the Morning Glory, directly above Kolohe. He would move down later, and both spent the day near the water line, all day. There was minimal interaction.

Team Billand called at 0828 with the report of Noa (R6FI) at Maili Point. They noticed a new wound on the left side of his head. Marilyn and Tracy agree, it's Sea Cucumber snot.  I had lunch with Robert and Barb this afternoon and got an early look at the photo.... that was the first thing out of my mouth... looks like snot to me. FYI I usually don't talk At 0908 they found 2AW at Tracks.  At 0952 the Billands found Kermit (R4DG) at Wind Sock, Kalaeloa Beach.  At 1400 Team Billand called with the report of Max (R5EW) and Makaiwi (R4DF), 50 ft apart at Palm Grove, Campbell Industrial Park.

Dera called at 0926 with the report of an animal at Diamond Head. Colleen was on it as usual, and confirmed Irma (R010) at 0933. Colleen called at 1252 to advise that Irma had departed.
Also during the 0926 call, Dera advised of an animal in Punaluu. DanaMail advised that posse member Candy Greene had checked the area but found nobody.

Dera checked in again at 1028 with the report of RI37 at Alligator Rock on the North Shore. She had been just a few flipper flaps down the beach near Chun's yesterday.

In the yesterday's news department, posse members Larry Stamey and Jean Compton did the Ka'ena Point trek yesterday (Sunday) and provided confirming shots of Kiko (T402) at the end of the world. Diane Gabriel had seen T15M on her shift yesterday.

I am relieved this was snot from a cucumber...a sea cucumber that is. Seeing any type of injury on these young seals makes me worry just how vulnerable they are. Thanks for the experts opinion..I slept well knowing Noa N30 R6FI/R6FJ is A OK. Thank you.
And yes we enjoyed BOB'S Pizza once again...SO ONOLICIOUS!!!!
