3-10-11 Late Entry from Kelly Girl

I arrived at Crozier Drive Beach Access 257 at 4:14 to find KC the Ka'a'awa Critter just 100 yards to the left. Thank you KC for not making trudge in the sand :)  I found a new posse member Bob keeping a watchful eye on her. Bob had been sitting with her for quite some time. He is the one in the picture with the XCEL shirt on. (Picture attached for the blog)

KC had a very nice protection zone set up by Judy and Bonnie. I added 4 more signs as it was getting a bit busier as the evening sunset approached. Judy and Bonnie came back to KC then left at 6pm. Great team work. It was wonderful talking with them. Judy had said that when she arrived this morning that there was a lady a few feet away from KC's face and that she was singing to KC. The lady had said that KC was enjoying her singing and that KC was listening to her and smiling. Well we all know that KC smile was her fishing line scars on the sides of her mouth and all KC wanted to do was sleep. Judy and Bonnie said they were going to come back later to
check on her because I could only stay till 7:15.

Around 6:40 KC started waking up and you could tell she would head to the water shortly. A very nice tourist family had the privilege to watch KC depart at 6:46. They were so excited as I let them look through the binoculars to see KC depart. They were so helpful as they happily gathered up the seal signs for me.

I tried to get as many pictures of KC's newest cookie cutter shark bite. It was filled with sand but still looks like it is healing well compared to 3 weeks ago. There appeared to be no other new cuts or marks on KC. I called Judy and Bonnie to let them know KC had departed and told them where I put their signs. What a wonderful network of HMSRTO volunteers we have:) Thanks Judy and Bonnie and new posse Bob and especially the sign collectors:)

Mahalo for letting me volunteer on another great seal day in paradise,
