Team R&B started out on the west side. When they arrived they saw RL20 Kalua hauling out. He was alone and went up to the zen area.
They met up with some NOAA folks that work in the NWHI. They had a nice talk and spoke about KE18, RU40, Temp 402 and even KP2.
They also got a look at a Heron that was out hunting for food.
While searching for more seals on the west side they got a text from posse pal Hiroko of as seal at plains.
She sent pictures and Team R&B were able to ID R407 Kawika. She confirmed his cc scar on his back.
Later when they had time they headed over to check it out. R407 was still there enjoying the sun. There was a frisbee near and then the kids toys floated into the seal zone. The dad went to retrieve the toys.
They headed back to the west side making a stop to check on the whale carcass. There were no sharks seen while they were there. They did see turtles.
They stopped at other beaches and the turtles were landing for a moment and then returned to the water. One poor turtle has a tumor or wound between his back flippers.
They also noted that Makaha beach got cleaned up by the community!!
On the last part of their journey they came across RM31 Kai. He was alone and resting peacefully.. They saw some movement on the reef so they went to check it out. It was a turtle going into a pond to hide.
